Unique recycling of rubber & plastic
We are a leading player in the greentech sector that develops materials and products from recycled plastic and rubber.
A Swedish greentech company that manufactures recycled materials suitable for 3D printing and conventional production.
The materials combine the elasticity of rubber with the rigidity of plastic and that supports the circular economy. EcoRub, founded in 1995, has its factory in Lövånger and we’re on a greentech journey where recycling of plastic and rubber is in focus.
EcoRub visits big Plastics-event: ”We have a niche, whose strengths were confirmed during the fair”

CEO Anders Färnlöf and sales representative Anders Svensson recently returned from Düsseldorf and the huge trade fair for the global plastics and rubber industry.
“EcoRub’s purpose for visiting the fair was to establish contacts and business opportunities for the future. We want to stay up to date on what’s available and what our competitors are offering,” explains Anders Färnlöf. “We also met several suppliers who manufacture various types of additives, such as stabilizers.”
Under the motto “The Power of Plastics! Green – Smart – Responsible,” 3,275 exhibitors from 66 countries presented technologies, products, and processes in 18 exhibition halls and outdoor areas. Over 175,000 trade visitors from around 160 countries prove that this is the industry’s most global trade fair.
“I’ve been to many trade fairs in my life, but I’m not sure if even the Telecom fair in Barcelona is bigger. This event is so big that you have to get around the area by bus,” says Anders Färnlöf.
Many of the world’s plastics companies are in Düsseldorf, either as visitors or exhibitors. Among them are manufacturers of machinery and equipment for producing plastics or related products.
“Even I, who am seasoned, am amazed by the size and impressed by the machines on display, some as tall as five stories in a villa with several hundred square meters of floor space. In addition, deals are made on the spot. Manufacturers sell machines directly on the exhibition floor for SEK 80 to 100 million.”
Key words used by a large number of exhibitors are:
A; “We are a very innovative company.”
B; Almost everyone is also interested in “circularity” and “recycling.”
But what does that say about EcoRub’s offering—does it mean that all other companies are just as unique and good?
“The fact is that I didn’t find anyone at the fair who builds their story on the same components as we do! Rubber, EPDM, and circularity in practice… We are alone in this, which strengthens our belief in the company and what we do,” says Anders Färnlöf.
So your image of EcoRub was strengthened during the days at the fair?
“Yes! It just became more positive! We have a niche, whose strengths were confirmed during the fair. And there is an incredible need for circular materials. Even competing companies that use 98 percent virgin materials are highlighting arguments for circularity because they know there is demand.”
“What we do is circular in practice, and I feel that many are not being honest. They exaggerate how circular their offerings are. In that sense, our biggest challenge now is to be able to communicate broadly what we really deliver from northern Sweden – without being considered smooth talkers ourselves.”

For those of us who work with complex materials, it becomes quite obvious after a while. We understand what works, why it works and what the benefits are to the business.
But it is not always as clear to the people we want to reach – those who ”roughly” know what we do.
